After MUCH work thru the chill of the winter and the heat of the summer, the Devil and Angel courses are now certified thru USATF! The certificates cover the marathon, 1/2 marathon, 10K, and 5K distances. While the 50 mile distance is not certified, the same methodology was used to determine your precise distance. What does this mean? Well, for one thing you can now use the marathon as a Boston Marathon qualifier. Fat chance at Devil, I know! But what it does also mean is you will be running a recognized accurate course compliant with USATF standards measured via the shortest possible route. Yes, the race course distance may measure differently than what may be displayed on your Garmin or other GPS unit. For a full explaination of this difference, please visit www.racemeasure.com.

On November 7th local "Running Man" Dan Campbell suffered a cerebral anurism, and has remained in the hospital ever since. Calico Racing is honored to dedicate the 5K distance of Running from an Angel to Dan. $5 from every 5K entry will be donated to Dan's family to help with mounting medical bills and expenses. Together with my dedicated course engineer, Paul of Langan Engineering I have been busy at work measuring, calibrating, and remeasuring the Angel/ Devil course out at Lake Mead. It is our dedicated hope to have the course certified by the January 5, 2008 Running from an Angel event. Once completed we will move on to certifying the other Calico Racing events, all to hopefully be certified by their 2008 event dates. This USATF certification will make the marathon courses a Boston Qualifier.
